Your decision to enter counseling is an opportunity to turn a problem into a new understanding. Therapy can be a difficult process and you can expect at times uncomfortable emotions to occur. It is at these times during therapy that you may want to stop, but I will encourage you to discuss these when they arise.

Beginning therapy can be the first step toward being the person who you truly want to be! Therapy is a way to overcome barriers, fears, obstacles and achieve what you desire as your set goals. You will be able to define what continues to get in your way of finding your strengths, your happiness, conquer your anxiety, your time management, cope with your relationships, master your goal setting and feel in control of life the way you want to!

At Thrive Counseling Services, LLC, we accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare. We offer a sliding scale fee for those who qualify. We also accept cash, check, and credit cards, including HSA.

Initial screening may be done without fee on the phone, this is usually a 10 – 15 minute phone call in order to talk person-to-person so questions may be answered and to lessen concerns about setting up an initial intake appointment.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is the practice of talking about what you as the client is affecting you in achieving the goals you want. In therapy, we work together to set goals seek solutions in achieving your goals. In my practice I use several different types of talk therapy. We can also discuss a referral for a medication evaluation if you desire. I work closely with your doctor as effective treatment is often accomplished by utilizing both talk therapy (psychotherapy) combined with pharmacological therapy (antidepressants/anti-anxiety medications).

I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Rational-Emotive Behavioral (REBT), Solution-focused, Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt, Existential, Trauma-Informed CBT and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which is utilizing eye movement to help process trauma. ART is also a great way to work with anxiety.

You can read more about these approaches by clicking on the Therapy Types link below and finding the therapy on that page, ART has a link direct to their own page and a couple of videos about ART.
