Thrive Counseling Services is proud to participate in the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program, supporting active-duty service members as they prepare to transition into civilian careers.
Through this program, participants gain exposure to the daily operations of a community-based mental health counseling practice while working in a structured and professional healthcare environment.
Our goal is to provide a grounded, ethical, and supportive learning experience that reflects the standards of high-quality behavioral health care.
What Is the DoD SkillBridge Program?
The Department of Defense SkillBridge Program allows active-duty service members to participate in civilian training opportunities during their final months of military service.
The program is designed to help service members explore career paths, gain professional experience, and prepare for a successful transition into the civilian workforce.
At Thrive Counseling Services, SkillBridge participants gain valuable insight into how a private counseling practice operates while learning about the standards and responsibilities involved in behavioral healthcare.
What Participants Will Experience
Participants in the Thrive SkillBridge Program will gain exposure to several aspects of a professional counseling practice, including:
- The structure and workflow of a private mental health counseling office
- Ethical standards, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance
- Client intake procedures and administrative operations
- Clinical documentation practices and electronic health records
- Trauma-informed and nervous-system-informed approaches to care
- Professional communication and workplace expectations in healthcare
When appropriate and with client consent, participants may also observe counseling sessions to better understand therapeutic approaches and client-centered care.
Program Structure
The Thrive SkillBridge training program typically follows this structure:
- Duration: 8–12 weeks
- Format: In-person training at Thrive Counseling Services in Cheyenne, Wyoming
- Schedule: Full-time participation consistent with DoD SkillBridge guidelines
